custom theme – tabed child pages help

Hi,

I’m creating my first WordPress theme. you can see where I’m am so far here http://dsp-websolutions.com/MEG/lessons/

Here is a screen shot of what I’m trying to do.

I want to make “individual”, “group”, and “our staff”
child pages of “Lessons”.

Then “vocal”, “piano”, “guitar”, “drums”,”cello”,”violin”, “bass”,
“ukelele”,”dj”, “dance”, “acting”, and “songwriting” child pages of “individual”.

Then do a similar thing for “group”, and “our staff”

I need to be able to navigate between all of those child pages while staying on the Lessons page. It should work as tabs within the Lessons page. The only thing that should change when the links on the left (vocal, piano, guitar, etc..) are clicked is the picture, the text, and styling of the link. The same would happen for Group and Our Staff.

I’m just not sure where to start to accomplish this. I’m new to all the WordPress functions, but I am comfortable with PHP.
