  • When you create a custom theme, place it in your theme directory, and then activate in the wordpress admin panel, is there any chance of it being erased or modified when you update wordpress?

Also, what are the advantages of using a framework compared to just creating your own theme?

    -thanks, I appreciate the help

No – the only themes that are changed are the default and classic themes.

When doing a core update to WordPress the only files in the theme folder that may be affected are those in ‘classic’ and ‘default’, the themes that come with WordPress. Any other theme should not be affected by general core updates to the WordPress files.

Using a “framework” versus creating your own depends what you want to accomplish and how knowledgeable you are with XHTML, CSS, PHP, and the WordPress functions.

Using a framework can make you build your theme more easily regarding to it’s custom function which you can’t found in standard installation.

But, instead of learning wordpress, you have to learn on how to use the framework. That means you have to learn twice

    🙂
