Support » Plugin: Add Polylang support for Customizer » Custom text fields only get saved in one language

    Hello !

Thanks for this plugin, I have been having some issues with custom text fields overwriting my polylang strings translations and it always displays those strings in english instead of the languages I have translated them to .

This plugin seems exacatly what I was looking for but when I try to save some of the customizer text fields it always updates both languages to the last text I insert, instead of saving a different text for each language .

In the end it’s as if there was no different text for each of the languages in the dropdown menu .

Any clue what might be wrong ?

    WordPress version : 5.3.4

    Hello @richardevcom !

I am using polylang with two different domains, maybe that’s an issue ?

I see there is an option for Force “The language is set from content” in Language > Settings > URL modifications? but currently I use a different URL for each language .

Also, could you clarify the requirement about setting a different home page per language ? I don’t have this option in my Settings-Reading options, just to set a single static homepage .

Having said that, I am still unable to save different content in the theme options and whenever I try to save in either of my 2 languages it always overwrites the custom field for both .

The language is set from content just forces the original Polylang setting – you should use it only if you really want to use content language by default over any other.

About everything else.. I couldn’t reproduce your issue on single site with multiple languages, so on monday I’ll set up dev environment for multisite with different domains and multiple languages, to test this out.

For setting your homepage in different languages – this is not a feature that this plugin has or will have in nearest future, but normally you should be able to set it with just Polylang activated. Also this makes me think, that language overriding may not be the issue of this plugin, but rather of some heavy caching.

    Hello !

After further debugging I believe the issue comes from the redux framework implementation.

My theme has a plugin made with redux (electro options) that basically adds a lot of custom text fields to change the theme options .

These theme options seem to override everything else , and even though I am able to change the settings from the wp customize settings they seem to be linked to the electro options theme plugin .

Having said that, I am unable to even save the custom fields on a per language basis, whenever I change a field in one language it will always update for both of them .

Due to fact that not only Redux, but also some other WP templates, that force setting in this kind of manner, I will probably make an update that works around this somehow. I’ll still going to look into this asap and let you know if I’ll manage to work around this. For now I’m setting this as resolved. Subscribe to this post below, so you can get updates on this post.

    Thanks ! 🙂

I believe I have found some examples of the reason for this happening, it`s probably related to the order the theme files are being called .
