Support » Plugin: The SEO Framework – Fast, Automated, Effortless. » Custom Taxonimies, The editor has encountered an unexpected error.

I’ve updated my site to with Gutenberg and added show in rest to my custom post type’s custom taxonomies. The custom taxonomies are now showing but when I click on one to edit I get an error, “The editor has encountered an unexpected error.”

There are three buttons to go with this attached to this error but nothing happens when I click them. The console, while in the admin shows an error, “TypeError: Cannot read property ‘value’ of null”

If I disable The SEO Framework plugin my custom taxonomies work with no issue and I get no error.

    Hi Scottie!

Thanks for reporting the bug! We’re dealing with a (very) major release, so I’m collecting bug reports for a bug swipe tomorrow.

In the meantime, you can use the Gutenberg Ramp plugin to enable the new editor for your post types selectively: https://wordpress.org/plugins/gutenberg-ramp/

To affirm, you’re using The SEO Framework v3.2.1, and not v3.2.0? Thanks!

I am using version 3.2.1 and have already enabled the new editor for my custom post types. The bug only appears when adding show_in_rest to my custom taxonomies.

    Thanks for the info!

I think I can reproduce it. Could you confirm you’ve added multiple hierarchical taxonomies to one post type?

    Update: Opened a GitHub issue.
