custom styles for gallery thumbnails

Anybody know how to do this? a script or plugin that adds a style field to the gallery settings popup for each image would be ideal. As seen in the ‘advanced’ tab for single images.

The project uses wp native gallery (at the moment!) to easily put a collection of images up and i’d like to have the option of alternating the border colours.
