I’ve downloaded and installed Custom Sidebars and it works wonderfully, however I have been experiencing a problem over the past 2 months. About two months ago, I assigned a custom sidebar to a few posts of a certain post type, and it worked fine for about 2-3 weeks. At in the beginning of December, I noticed the custom sidebar was replaced with the default sidebar on all of the applicable posts. I proceeded to manually reassign the custom sidebar to these posts and they’ve been fine throughout the month of December. Now i woke up today, got to the office and noticed that the same issue happened again this morning. I referenced my log and when this problem happened last time, it was also almost exactly 1 month ago. Now, I am the only one with admin privileges, and I did not change this.

Is there a reason why the default sidebar resets on the applicable posts? Why doesn’t it stay?

  • Hey there eclipserec,

    How are you doing today?

That’s pretty odd to be honest. Can you please try adding more information about the post type used there and also which exact rules are you using to display the sidebar on those posts so I can take a look.

Also can you please post link to one of those pages in case you still have one so I can take a look?

    Best regards,
    Bojan

Thanks for responding Bojan. It’s bizarre, yeah. The post types are default, as well as 3 different custom post types. The rule to display the custom sidebar is just assigning it on a per-post manner, from within the edit post at wp-admin/

What I am going to do (because I want to double-confirm this) is re-assign the custom sidebars for all these posts at the same time, and wait to see if it happens again.

    Hey again eclipserec,

Sounds good, please make sure to try to check server error log when this happens next time so maybe that will give us more information next time this happens.

    Best regards,
    Bojan
