I use your plugin to update all of our subscribers with a daily Fishing Report Post. I’ve been using your plugin for a while now and have found it very clean and easy to use.

I’ve recently thought of a good way to engage our subscribers and drive them to our site instead of just the post updates in their inboxes, but it seems I am unable to get it to work with MailPoet.

I’m using a post query plugin, (Display Posts) to generate links and excerpts from previous years fishing reports at the bottom of our posts, with the idea that they read read the excerpts and follow the links to our blog.

    Here is an example:

(9/15/2019) - Here is the Frisco Rod and Gun Outer Banks Fishing Report for Hatteras Island. Today high temperatures were in the mid 80’s, and the winds ESE at 8 to 12 mph. The fishing isn’t too bad for us just … Continue reading →

The plugin I’m using and any other plugin I’ve looked at all use shortcodes to achieve these results. I am now finding out that MailPoet doesn’t support these shortcodes, but offers shortcodes of its own instead.

I’m technically inclined though certainly not a “developer”, but would it be possible to achieve the same results I’m getting on my site within the Post Notification using MailPoet’s custom shortcodes?

I’m pretty well gutted after getting everything to work as I wanted on the site to find out it won’t be reaching my intended audience, and just want to find a way to make it work.

    Many Thanks for looking.

    Hello @frgtech,

Thanks for writing. With the custom content you’re looking to add to your newsletters, your best option would be to use Custom Shortcodes:

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I did look at the link you provided before posting, but didn’t see how the available variables would be able to recreate what I needed. I’m not averse to digging in and trying to learn how to accomplish this, but I want to make sure it’s possible before spending large amounts of time on this.

If it is indeed possible, would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

    Best Regards

    Hollow words it seems.

Well I see from researching this issue that I am not the only one, and that your canned answer is the only “help” you have to offer. (Marking this solved was a nice touch)

It’s really unfortunate you couldn’t spare a few words to answer my question, as I was not asking you to program anything for me, just answer if it can really be done before taking on a very involved project and then find out it can’t be done.
