# Custom Post types assistance

 * I am working on a plugin using Custom Post types. These custom post types will
   be events. people will be registered (not from front end right now) for an event
   by an administrator and assigned to a specific age group for that event. I have
   the custom post type created and have added all the custom fields i need. I have
   the list and detail pages working. The next step is to show all people registered
   for the event organized by age groups. Would it be best to create users in wordpress(
   as ultimately at a later date i will have them login and register themselves).?
   How would i add on the admin side the ability to assign a user to a an age group
   within an event? how would i show the list of users assigned to each age group
   on the front end?

 * Yes, there is a plugin that will create users from a CSV file, I generate these
   from a spreadsheet. Maybe you will add some custom fields to the users table,
   or have your own table keyed on WordPress ID. You will have a much easier expansion
   to your mature user login and registration if you start in that direction now.

 * Use the Role or WordPress capabilities attribute to control access to this. Either
   in a custom page template OR inside the shortcode invoked function that does 
   the admin stuff, test for the user role or capability and exit with an error 
   message if they shouldn’t be there.
    Your regular attendee will be a subscriber,
   make your age group assigners contributors.

 * Use shortcodes in the text of a page and have the shortcode invoke code in your
   plugin that does a select on the database and displays the results in a table.
