    On this website:
    http://bodywisdompsychotherapy.com/

I had Custom Content Types activated, created some testimonials, then realized I needed to be able to show certain testimonial categories on the sidebars of certain pages.

So I got the Easy Testimonials plugin:
    https://goldplugins.com/our-plugins/easy-testimonials-details/

and copied the testimonials from one to the other system.

Then I deactivated the Custom Contact Types through the Jetpack settings.

But the Testimonials custom post type still exists in the admin sidebar so that there are 2 Testimonials custom post types. One for Jetpack and one for Easy Testimonials.

Also, the testimonials are not showing at all in the sidebars.

I posted yesterday on the Easy Testimonials support forum and have not heard from them

    Hoping you can help,

    -Cat

Could you go to Jetpack > Settings in your dashboard, activate the Custom Content Types module again, and then go to Settings > Writing in your dashboard? Is the Testimonials Custom Post Type still checked there? What happens when you uncheck it? Does this remove the post type menu?

Also, the testimonials are not showing at all in the sidebars.

I can’t speak for “Easy Testimonials”, but Jetpack doesn’t automatically add any testimonials to your sidebars. You could, however, add them yourself by adding a new Text Widget to the sidebar, including the Testimonials shortcode:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/testimonials-shortcode/

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you Jeremy –

It was the checkbox in the writing settings that I missed.

And just FYI, even with custom post types deactivated (and the checkbox checked in writing settings), the custom post type for testimonials was there in the menu. So I think that’s a bug.

Thanks for giving that a try!

That’s definitely a bug, and something we’ll work on fixing. I just wanted to confirm this was indeed the bug you were experiencing. 🙂

You can follow our progress on this issue here:

I’ll also post again here as soon as this gets fixed!
