# Custom Post tags

 * Hello,
 * I am setting up a new custom post type and would like the to give the post type
   its own set of tags, not shared tags with “posts”.
 * I have searched but cannot find much on it. Is this possible?

 * You can create your own custom taxonomy ([http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_taxonomy](http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_taxonomy)).
   You then can specify what post types (like your custom post type) can use that
   taxonomy.
    And you would have to name it differently, not “tags”, of course.
