    Hi,

I have unusual problem with the permalinks setup.

I’m having an unusual problem with setting up permalinks.

For all my sites when I first set up the permalinks I use:

    Post name – Sample-post (/%postname%/)

This is because I want to have custom URLs instead of plain characters.

This time, when I set up the permalink to a sample post and after creating a few TEST posts, I found that when I clicked on a single post, it directly redirected me to the home page.

I tried to change the permalink settings and I chose the Plain one, and everything worked as expected.

I thought it might be from some kind of plugin conflict, but after turning off all the plugins it turns out the problem isn’t coming from there.

    Please see the video bellow:

I would be very grateful if you could help me solve this case.

Thank you very much in advance. 🙂

  • Hello,

as far as I know WordPress cannot handle cyrillic letters in an url. You would need to translate your urls, there is a plugin that automatically translates them https://wordpress.org/plugins/cyrillic-slugs/

I have read somewhere that when you download WordPress from the russian source it can handle cyrillic urls but I am not sure if this is true, you would need to test that out: https://ru.wordpress.org/

If you do test the russian source please post the results in this topic so others that meet the same problem have an answer.

    Hi, Benni,

Thank you for your prompt response and support. 🙂

I changed one of the urls and now everything works fine.

It is strange for me because I have already a website with cyrillic urls, which is not from russian source, but I haven’t found before such as problem.

    For example:

    https://screenshot.bg/%d1%81%d0%b5%d1%80%d0%b2%d0%b8%d0%b7-%d0%b7%d0%b0-%d1%82%d0%b5%d0%bb%d0%b5%d1%84%d0%be%d0%bd%d0%b8/

Maybe there is some issue with some of the WP updates.

Thank you very much one more time!

    Have a great day! 🙂

    BR,

    Galabina

    Hi,

maybe you have a plugin installed that lets you do this or maybe the site language is different. You would need to look at this sites setup and compare it, maybe you get it to work.

Have a great day too 🙂
