Custom Page Templates

  • I’ve installed the core AppPresser plugin and am creating a custom theme based on our designs. The question I have is how do I set up Custom Page templates?

Since the theme is not active, the choice isn’t available for the custom page templates. What is the best way around it?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Aaron. That is a very good, valid question. Sadly we don’t have a solution for this at the moment but are putting it as a feature request and something we should really find a solution for, in all honesty.

Thanks for pointing this issue out.

As a temporary alternative or something that may prove to be enough, there is always the Template hierarchy

Thank you, Michael. I’ve set up custom post-types and it has seemed to work like a charm. It is a little less organized than I’d like but works and is easy to work around.

Had it pointed out to me that if you’re using a child theme, then creating the custom template in the child theme should act just as expected. Not sure why I didn’t think of this originally.
