Custom Header Leads to Archives Only (1 post)

I have successfully taken a copy of the default template and added a custom header; however, whenever the site loads, it automatically goes into archive mode.

I can't figure out where it makes the decision to go into archive mode, so I have no idea how to turn it off. I just want normal blog behavior other than my custom header.

For additional information, the custom header is actually in a separate code file, so I had to setup an include statement in the header.php.

I don't get any errors, just automatically loading into archive mode regardless of any attempts to stop it. Any help on how archive mode is initiated or how to use a custom header, included from another script, would be fabulous.

    Thank you in advance!
