# Custom Fonts in CSS

 * How do you use a custom font that most computers out there don’t have within 
   your CSS file to make nice-looking text. I don’t want to make an image of the
   file as that would eat up significant bandwidth. Can I somehow upload the TTF
   file to a location and point to that within css font-family?
    Any help would 
   be greatly appreciated!

 * Well, unfortunatly you can’t really do that. You can use a font face “at rule”
   in CSS, but browser support is very weak, if any at all. IE is the only one that
   has ok support. But here is how you would do it:
    `@font-face { font-family: 
   somerandomfontname; src: url(somefont.eot); } However you need to use an OpenType
   font, not True Type font. Microsoft’s [ WEFT](http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft3/default.htm)
   software can convert TT fonts though. The best, and really only way to do this,
   is to use images. 🙁

 * thanks! I sure hope that the w3c pulls css-font markup to higher standards some
   time soon (and getting everyone to switch to browsers that support the new features)
