I run a radio station which hosts podcasts on itunes. To host podcasts on itunes you need to use a custom field with the name “enclosure” and a direct .mp3 link as the value. Lately my custom fields have not been saving and I have done everything I can to try to fix it myself. My last resort is posting here in hopes someone will have a solution. Any body experienced this before?

are you using any plugins that are controlling your custom fields?

No plugins are used to control the custom fields at all.

in your custom fields area, how many items are showing in your NAME dropdown list?

Thank you for the response. The help is greatly appreciated. There are 30 items showing in the Names drop down list on my custom fields. I would assume some of these are related to the theme I am using. I am also trying to add a new field instead of selecting one out of the list. Don’t know if that makes a difference.

I had an experience last year where an excessive number of field names were being created by an unrelated plugin which was impacting my ability to use custom fields normally.

check this resource to see if it can help you:

Thank you for the response. I have tried this with no luck at all. There does not seem to be any code such as the one talked about in that article in my themes functions.php file.

I disabled every single plugin on my website and changed to a default wordpress theme and still experienced the enclosure issue. Really baffled at what could be causing this.

Finally figured this issue out over 8 months later. The problem was caused by spaces in the file name / url. To get the enclosure to work, you will need to remove any spaces in the file name used to make sure that there are no spaces in the url. I am also using archive.org as a free file host for these podcasts. Hope this helps someone.
