# Custom Fields Missing – Theme Issue

 * Hi I have a problem where custom field don’t show. I’ve checked under “options”-
   > “preferences” and there is no custom field option there. I also changed my 
   theme back to the classic editor and checked the “page options” tab and still
   don’t see the custom field option.
 * The theme I’m using seems very locked down and I think that might be the issue.
 * Any ideas?

 * That’s odd – I’ve never known a theme override the block preferences before.

 * Can you confirm that is missing? Make sure you’re on the `Panels` tab on the 
   left-hand side.

 * So, yeah, that’s got to be the theme or even a plugin switching that out. If 
   it’s taking this out then there’s nothing I can do here.
