Custom Fields for Comments?

    WordPress has the ability to allow post authors to assign custom fields to a post. That’s done from within the admin panel, after login in as an author.

    Is there an equivalent to allow comment authors (without login in) to fill in custom fields of a comment?

    No. Currently comments are not provided any sort of ‘meta-data’ akin to that of posts and authors.

    Is there a particular reason why META data is not added? Is this a feature that could be developed as a plugin?
