Custom Fields and Authors

Hi

I have a problem. My theme allows me to upload and attach images. it uses a custom field to do this and it works great. The problem is I have users with Author rights only but they can not add a custom field entry to a post. It says they don’t have enough permission.

How do I allow users to add custom fields, editors can but at the min authors can not.
