When using the ‘new draft’ option, is there a way to stop the custom fields from being duplicated and just have the new draft use the existing custom fields already on the post and basically act like it was a normal new post?

I have a ‘draft’ post that I use as a template to create a new post every day. When I click the ‘new draft’ option, all custom fields that start with ‘wp’ (but strangely, none of the ones that begin with other letters) are duplicated with the new draft. By the end of every week, I have 7 versions of each custom ‘wp’ field that I have to delete from the ‘new draft’ version of the post.

Happy to supply screencaps if needed.

  • Hi @jjmass4,

Thanks for the question. You can exclude custom fields from being copied with the post in the plugin settings.

If you go to Setting > Duplicate Post, there is the “Do not copy these fields” option where you can enter a comma-separated list of custom field names. If you have multiple fields, you can use the “*” wildcard to match a pattern.

Worked like a charm – Thank you!
