Custom field not enforced in registration

    I have a required custom field for registration of text (single line) of alphanumerics and spaces (exactly 9 characters), but people are successfully registering with just two characters (or anything else). I have successfully bypassed this requirement in my own testing with a regular browser with normal settings for Javascript, etc. No error messages are shown, registration completes successfully.

    Is this a known problem?

    I never know why people ask whether something is a known problem. The point is that you have the problem.

    I’d start by checking for a (javascript?) conflict with another plugin.
