Custom email templates are removed automatically on each theme update

Today was the third time when all my custom UM emails were automatically reset to the original contents. From the docs I figured out that “when you edit the email template using the wp-admin screen Ultimate Member > Settings > Email it is saved in a folder with your theme/child-theme”.
This seems like a very bad approach as every single time, when someone updates a WP theme, the whole theme folders contents are replaced, which means every custom email template is wiped out completely. This forces every plugin user to either stop updating their themes (which would be a security concern) or to keep a backup of the {theme}/ultimate-member/email folder and upload it back to the theme after every update.
