    I’m trying to assign a custom CSS class to one of my menu items using the WordPress Custom Menu builder (Appearance->Menu->CSS Classes), but it does not appear in the source. I have BuddyPress installed, and it adds custom css classes to its menu items automatically and they show up fine. Is there something in the theme that is interfering with the build in WordPress functionality?

    .sf-menu li.hertford-logo {float: right;}

    did you use or enable the custom menu location?

    (@sweeneytodd94)

    Yes, the locations are set through the manager. The one in question is the top menu, which I have called ‘Main’.

    The classes I’ve added to show social media icons in the footer are working fine, it is just the custom classes in the top menu that are being ignored/overwritten with:
    menu-item menu-item-type-custom menu-item-object-custom no_desc
    Any ideas? You can see the page here: http://bridge2bridge.hertford.ox.ac.uk/

    try remove the walker for navigation in header.php, search for wp_nav_menu()

    'walker' => new Custom_Description_Walker
    edit to
    'walker' => ''

    Should this be done in a child theme? Is it a bug caused by the walker or by design?

    its a bug in walker field. will add this to update list.
