Custom Class Selector applied to full post?

I’m noticing that my custom classes are only being applied to the p tag of the post. I’d like to have a few other things change between posts depending on the custom class selected (title color, author color etc.).

I actually don’t want the actual body copy of the post to change at all but that’s where the style is going to.

Any help would be much appreciated.
