 * Hi,
 * I’m going to try and explain this as well as I can:
 * I offer free ebooks and ebooks that will require paid membership. People who
   have free registration will be able to download the free books.
 * People who have paid membership (at any level), will be able to access all the
   other ebooks too.
 * So if I created just 2 sub directories (one for level 0, and one for level 1),
   would level 4 members still be able to see the books in those directories? In
   other words, are the levels set in the sub-directory the lowest level a member
   has to be?
 * Also…if a level 0 member tried to access a book in the Level 1 sub-directory,
   what would happen? Would they get sent to the membership page to upgrade their
   membership?
 * Any help is appreciated.

 * The answer to your questions is Yes.

 * Brilliant. Thanks.
 * One more question. I want to have a level where people can download, say, 10
   books in a 2 day period. I don’t want the free books (in the level 0 sub directory)
   to count towards their downloads. I saw in the documentation this:
 * count_against_user=”no”
 * but I’m not sure how to put that with the link. So if my link looked liked this:
 * [su_button url=”[http://www.globalgrey.co.uk/?s2member_file_download=access-s2member-level0/example.pdf&s2member_skip_confirmation&#8221](http://www.globalgrey.co.uk/?s2member_file_download=access-s2member-level0/example.pdf&s2member_skip_confirmation&#8221);
   background=”#ef3c2d” color=”#ffffff” size=”6″ icon=”icon: download”]Click to
   download PDF[/su_button]
 * (I’m using a shortcode button thing)…where would I specify that I didn’t want
   this download counted against the members allowance?

 * I don’t know what “thing” you’re using, but I’d suggest trying to add `count_against_user
   ="no"` immediately before the first `]`

 * It’s a shortcode for a button 🙂
 * So the count_against_user=”no”….is that a shortcode?
 * That’s my last question, and thank you very much. I see you answer a lot on the
   forums and it’s really nice of you to do so…really appreciated.

 * Thanks, since I’m not a developer, answering other people’s questions has helped
   me learn a lot for my own sites.
 * `count_against_user="no"` isn’t a free-standing shortcode, but it can be used
   as part of an s2Member shortcode. So I don’t know whether it will work as part
   of your shortcode, but it’s worth a try.
 * If it doesn’t work the first time, try moving its position within the shortcode.
   I have found that the order of the elements within a shortcode sometimes makes
   a difference.

 * I’m going to try this out soon.
 * And thank you again. I’m surprised you’re not a developer, you certainly know
   your stuff.

 * Hey aisha70 did you ever come up with the format you required? I was needing
   to do same thing.

 * Hi,
 * Not with the ‘count against user-no’ thing. I ended up putting all my free books
   in a folder which wasn’t S2Member protected. That way it didn’t count against
   their download total.

 * I haven’t actually tried this, but I read the documentation as suggesting that
   you could create links to protected files like this:
 * `[s2File download="example-file.zip" count_against_user="no" /]`
 * Files called like that should not count towards the download limit.

 * Jason has now explained the best way to do this. I know [@moe](https://wordpress.org/support/users/moe/)
   Joe is on the relevant thread, but [@aisha70](https://wordpress.org/support/users/aisha70/)
   isn’t, so please take a look [here](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/simple-levels-and-downloads-question?replies=6#post-7212923).
