Support » Plugin: XCloner - Backup and Restore » Custom backup path & saving configs between updates

    Hi guys,

I have created 2 custom cron jobs, one to back up by databases every day and the other to backup my files every week. I want both of these to be saved to a different location on my server. If I change the $_CONFIG[‘clonerPath’]= in my custom cron file, will that be enough?

Secondly, is there any way to make the plugin keep the custom cron files between updates? Every time I update the plugin, my backups stop because the config files are deleted.

    Thanks!

Yes, changing the Backup Start Path will work. Regarding updates, you will need to keep a copy of the plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/configs folder, that’s where the cron configs are kept!

    Hope it helps!

    Thanks! Great plugin btw.

Is it possible to make xcloner store the custom configs in the database, or in a separate folder in wp-content in your next update? This is how W3 Total Cache stores it’s config files (in a separate folder outside the plugin folder). That way updating the plugin won’t break / overwrite cusom cron backups. It will make the plugin much lower maintenance. Currently each time it updates, we need to ftp in and copy the files back. Or recreate the custom files.

    Cheers

Yes, it is possible, i will work on a fix for the next release!

Fantastic, thanks! It’s great seeing this kind of support from developers.

I’d like to see the configs files stored in a separate directory too, thanks.
