Cusom Fields not enabling! (6 posts)

    Hello,

    I have tried everything but it seems that I cannot get the "Custom Fields" option to enable in the screen options section when I am trying to make a new post. I have made sure it is checked before a refresh and nothing happens, it won't enable!

    Then I tried inserting the following code earlier into (functions.php)from another post I read that was supposed to "change what's hidden by default" and that didn't work.

    This is very frustrating because I am trying to set up my blog theme 3 that allows for the start of the text in the blog to show up on the intro page. you will see what I mean when you go to http://www.refstube.com nothing is showing now.

    Please Help???

    Thanks.

    // Change what's hidden by default
    add_filter('default_hidden_meta_boxes', 'be_hidden_meta_boxes', 10, 2);
    function be_hidden_meta_boxes($hidden, $screen) {
    if ( 'post' == $screen->base || 'page' == $screen->base )
    $hidden = array('slugdiv', 'trackbacksdiv', 'postexcerpt', 'commentstatusdiv', 'commentsdiv', 'authordiv', 'revisionsdiv');
    // removed 'postcustom',
    return $hidden;
    }

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Hello Esmi,

    I am using an after market theme I purchased through Themeforest, would that have anything to do with it?

    I tried what you suggested but it still doesn't work.

    How do you contact wordpress support?

    Thanks.

    Try deactivating this theme and activating one of the WordPress standard themes. Are you able to check the box now? If so, that at least isolates your problem to the theme.

    Sorry, I should have read esmi’s post properly. But still try that if you haven't already. My guess is that it might be a JavaScript conflict somewhere, but this is likely to be generated by a plugin or theme.

    Hi Spank,

    I have deactivated the plug ins via admin and phpmyadmin (manually) and that does not work.

    How do I deactivate the after market theme I am using? And if I do this will it cause any disruption to my content at all?

    Please advise and direct.

    Thanks.
