Hello AlamanceWM,
I’m sorry to hear that.
Redirects weren’t deleted in the update, nothing was changed, there was a bug in the plugin which allowed archive/category/tag/author pages to redirect to another page, if the page content had a redirected post. Which was wrong.
If the plugin is updated normally and there are no issues, it wouldn’t delete site data.
Thanks
The plugin was updated to the latest version.
My links were not deleted. The plugin simply stopped working. I had no ability to roll the plugin back to the previous version that did work for me.
The same thing has happened to me, on certain sites. What was working just fine is now not working. I am using WP 5.4.2 and your 1.4 plugin.
Same here, mmcap62.
Also – along with a support request, I have a feature request from one of our users: is it possible to include a selector that would allow redirects to be set up to open in a new tab or window?
Hello,
1. Only archive/category pages redirects have been removed, which was a bug.

2. If you’re facing issue with the redirects on your post or single page, please disable all of the plugin besides this, and change to a default theme like TwentyTwenty, and please check if you still get it.
3. About the feature request @alamancewm, unfortunately it is not possible to have a redirect open another tab. Others have requested similar feature.

Thank you
Because of my website’s setup and high use, I am not able to disable themes or plugins easily.
I did try an update again this morning (after backing up and updating some other plugins that had been waiting) and got the same error again: the redirects would not function. No error. Just a blank redirect page. I had to restore my entire website from backups (2,500+ pages and documents on a multi-site install) because I wasn’t able to roll the plugin back to the previous version.
I’m sorry to hear that, but unfortunately we are not able to reproduce the issue you’re facing.
It has to be a conflict with the theme/plugin on your site.
Maybe next time, you can ask your host to check what error you’re getting, they will look up in the error logs.
Also, all WorPress plugins which are opensource have older versions accessible via the SVN, for this plugin the 4 month older version is seen here https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/simple-post-redirect/trunk/simple-post-redirect.php?rev=2276333#L5
