CURL commands allow server to server communications behind the scenes. This helps if you have a server with statistics or other information you’d like to show on your site, but need it to happen after the page has loaded by Ajax. We use CURL for updates and license checks for premium services. We update our plugin database tables on install and updates to make sure you have the most recent capabilities.

At present they don’t do much for users of our plugin directly other than offer extended services and allow helpdesk entries, though if there’s something you’d like the ability to do we’d be glad to make an interface to get and display data from alternative sources.

As for installing them, it’s a server setting and depending your server platform and hosting service it may already be turned on. If PCMegaworks doesn’t work on installation, it may be due to CURL being disabled on your server. If you think it may be turned off, you should be able to send us an email at our support email address, and we can try to help turn it on.

Okay, I checked on cURL commands with my host and learned they are enabled. But the plugin doesn’t work. I can’t use it.

Does it not install, or simply not function when it is installed? The menu should be near the top and should provide options for configuration. Do you have the PC logo in your menu, or does it do anything when you click on it?

We’ve just released version 001.016.008, which may correct your issue. We found a potential bug in the update routine that may cause the plugin to malfunction and unceremoniously terminate.

If you’ve not made any changes, or added any map groups it may be best to uninstall and reinstall to be sure there are no update conflicts. Thanks for taking the time to try our plugin, and we look forward to hearing any feedback, questions, or results you may have.

Oh, it installs, but nothing beyond that. I’ll give it another try.

Did the new version install and work correctly? We’ve had several working installations but would like to have 100%. We’d love for you to be able to use our plugin, but don’t want to ask you to do too much troubleshooting.

We do have logs you could send us, which would help us figure out the issue. These would be located in wp-content/plugins/pcmegaworks/Logs folder. zip up the error.log and any date logs and send them to support-AT-progressivecoding.net. We could then look at what may be failing and release a fix at our next release.

Closing for lack of response. Question was about CURL, which was answered and it seems troubleshooting was abandoned.
