curious, how do you store/organize original images?

I have about 200 posts so far on my site, and I use a lot of images. I want to keep all of the originals stored on my laptop in an organized way so that it would be possible to quickly find, edit, and replace any particular images.

Just wondering how others organize their original image files – or do you not consider it important to worry about them once they have been uploaded?

In part I want easy access to original images because the more I learn about how to make my site better, the more I look back at old posts and desire to improve them.
