 * I upgraded to wp 4.2.1 and now when i select text and past in a url it automatically
makes it a hyperlink using the selected text. I can see how this is useful for
most but since the text I’m highlighting is just a placeholder I need for it
to replace that text with raw url text. Is there somewhere I can turn this feature
off or change some code to disable it?

 * No, that’s a new core feature of 4.2, so you’d have to write a plugin to disable
   it if you wanted to.
 * Since that’s a bit much, I recommend just adapting your workflow. Delete the
   placeholder, then paste the link.

 * unfortunately its not that simple. I’m pasting in a large group of links and
now even if I delete the place holder something has been changed so that it makes
everything one long line instead of multiple lines. the script I have running
doesn’t know what to do with that so i have to past in each link one at a time.
that gets old fast. I wanted to upgrade wp not downgrade.

 * You did upgrade, it’s just that a feature has been improved for the majority
of users, and you have a very special unique case.
 * You’ll probably have to adjust your script to adapt to WordPress.
