Guess what. I am not asking for help this time, but just wanted to point out for those with special character import errors from excel made csv tables, that if they have Apple Numbers.app, it exports csv tables that import correctly into TablePress without any need of correcting what so ever.

    Hi,

thanks for this information! Yes, Numbers seems to work better than Excel for many people, indeed. A lot of this however also seems to depend on the locale settings of the operating system, so that this might not always be the case.

Regardless, if things don’t import as expected on the first try, it is usually a good idea to manually set the character encoding to UTF-8 in a text editor. On Windows, Notepad will work, while Mac users should try TextWrangler.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Ok, thanks.

Do you happen to have a link to where this is described, that is how to set the encoding?

    Hi,

great that you found it already!

It’s basically just a “Save as”, and then selecting the desired encoding.

    Regards,
    Tobias
