I noticed on another Closed thread people were having issues importing csv files if they were using a MAC with excel. Is there a workaround? I am getting the following error…

    $opt_cat(ID): 47 Team slug: 15u-test

    Team slug: 15u-test
    Loading DataSource …

    Done.

I was able to import your test files (unaltered in MAC).

Also, I noticed in that same thread a comment about handling duplicate players. I have many repeat players (same team or sometimes a new one). Best way to manage those scenarios?

    thanks in advance…

Yes. If you are using a Mac you have to save your CSV files in PC CSV format. Excel provides that option.

Duplicate players should create ‘duplicates’ with different slugs. So if you import Willie Mays several times, you should get players with slugs ‘willie-mays’, ‘willie-mays-1’, ‘willie-mays-2’, etc. A player may be assigned to multiple teams. You definitely want to do that instead of creating multiple players. In the version I’m working on at least, all those teams will be preserved for that player.

    Mark,

Thanks! That did the trick. I didn’t even realize that was an option in Excel 🙂
