 * Hi,
 * Can you tell me more about the csv import file format? What columns does the
   import expect to find in there?
 * Thanks
 * Andy

 * Hi Andy-
    The CSV import format is explained in the documentation … [http://shoalsummitsolutions.com/gs-csv-file-format/](http://shoalsummitsolutions.com/gs-csv-file-format/)
 * Let me know if that’s not what you need.

 * OK, thanks for that.
 * If I’m using game locations as well, I assume the the Location column in the
   CSV has to relate to the Game Location in the Game locations database?

 * The Location column in the CSV file applies to the (older) custom location field,
   not the (newer) location field that’s linked to Game Locations.

 * ah, so the csv import doesn’t link to game locations at all?

 * Correct. I haven’t quite figured out how to do that without making Game Locations
   part of Game Schedules and/or making the import more complicated than I want
   it to be.

 * hmmmm, so in that case am I better of not using Game Locations and just adding
   my own google maps links?

 * Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly. Game Locations was intended to provide “driving
   directions” for parents and fans — a list of locations with links to maps. It
   does that simple task as intended.
 * Then users wanted to link to the driving directions right from the Game Schedules,
   so I did that originally “the manual way”, where the user had to add the link.
   Then I made it a bit easier by allowing a user to link to an existing Game Location
   right from the edit screen. Nice.
 * This was all done for football (only 10 games) originally. Then basketball and
   other sports with lots more games wanted to import the schedule from CSV files.
   So I added that.
 * So now the plugin is like a box of chocolates, you have to make a choice.
    a.
   Import the games from CSV with custom URLs for Game Location Links, b. Import
   the games from CSV without game location links and go back and add the links
   from Game Locations, c. Enter everything manually.
 * It probably depends on how big your schedule is and if you want a table of driving
   directions separate from the schedules.

 * 17 teams in total varying from 18 to 30 games each in the season 😉
 * Big job and a complete pita if it’s all done manually.
 * I’ll probably stick at it a bit and see which way is easier.
 * Thanks

 * Any chance of a csv import for Game Locations?

 * Yes, depending on what I do with Game Locations. It may just become part of Game
   Schedules. Plugin upgrades are going to have to wait until version 1.0 of the
   My Sports Team Website Framework is released this summer. All the plugins will
   be included with it. If you are interested, send me your email address via shoalsummitsolutions.
   com and I’ll add you to the mailing list.
