I just got an email stating that my hosting service (Bluehost) upgraded my WordPress to 4.0.1. My site (and site theme) seem to be working. I am able to login to the Admin Dashboard but the Dashboard is very raw html and appears to be missing the CSS to format the pages. I tried restoring the upgrade back to 4.0, but still did not get the CSS back for the Admin Dashboard. I updated back to 4.0.1 and still do not have CSS for the Dashboard, although the links and functionality are working.

…. where do I go from here?

@rmasfer — thanks but thought of that right away. Using IE10, I also deleted all the cached files, and restarted the browser. I also tried in Firefox and Chrome (up to date versions) … all yielding the same results. It looks like the css is still present in the folder, but wherever WordPress stores the reference to the CSS is not correct, or missing. My Theme is working in the site, but the admin theme is what is missing. I don’t know the insides of WordPress well enough to know where to look.

    Okay..

Lets check whether WordPress loads CSS.

    1. Open FireFox (I prefer).
    2. Go to your site Dashboard.
    3. Right click on page and select “Inspect Element”
    4. Select Network tab >> CSS tab

@rmasfer — thank you again. Here’s a link to a screenshot of my Firefox elements inspection.

AHa! I think I discovered some of the problem … not sure if there is anything that can help but it appears to be due to the network that I am on at 3M. I logged into my home system remotely and brought up the Dashboard and it looks just fine … I also used my cellphone on LTE and was able to get to the Dashboard .. again it looks just fine. It must be something that’s being blocked in the 3M network.

I think I’ll not worry about this anymore. … just do my updates from a workstation outside of the 3M network.

Thank you for all the help and support .. your ideas got me thinking and I’m happy that the update to 4.0.1 did work just fine.

    hooray..
