Support » Plugin: Custom Content Shortcode » CCS (or other plugin) replacing a theme´s single and archive templates

  • Hi Eliot and thank you all in advance for this amazing plugin. This question may be out of the scope of the support forum so please feel free to dismiss it.

I teach introductory WordPress courses to non-technical users and I am looking for a system (drag & drop or shortcode) to build archive, category and single post templates for (child) themes. I want my students to be able to show custom fields, taxonomies and other info in archive and single templates without coding. Mostly I am concerned with showing the info but the layout could also be “designed” using a kind of visual composer.

Custom Content Shortcode allows you to build custom loops & queries but they are static in the sense the they do not work as global theme templates. Ideally the plugin would create files such as singe-cpt-name.php, archive-cpt-name.php and so on, using the theme´s default single.php and archive.php files as a templates.

Can this, or something similar, be done with your plugin?
Have heard of any other plugin that can do this? Do you think it´s feasible?

    Thanks again.
