Support » Theme: Expound » CSS not working in child theme

  • couchpotatotalk

    I have successfully created a child theme. It doesn’t look like my parent theme because I heavily modified the CSS of the parent theme using a plugin called Simple Custom CSS. Once I created my child theme I tried copy/pasting all of these changes into child/style.css but nothing seems to be pulling. I also tried adding some code into the header of the child to call the stylesheet but I that isn’t working either.

    Here is what I have for the child style sheet.
    Theme Name: Expound Child
    Theme URI:
    Description: Expound Child Theme
    Author: Name
    Author URI:
    Template: expound
    Version: 1.0.0
    Tags: light, dark, two-columns, right-sidebar, responsive-layout, accessibility-ready
    Text Domain: expound-child

    @import url(“../expound/style.css”);

    /* =Theme customization starts here
    ————————————————————– */

    #disqus_thread {margin-left: 40px;}

    .widget {
    padding-left: 25px;

    Any ideas?

  • If you have edited the parent theme keep the changes as it is. Download a fresh copy of expound theme and keep this as your parent theme. As you may know the changes you have done earlier, keep those files in child theme and override the parent theme with just few lines given below.

    Theme Name: Expound Child
    Template: expound

    @import url(‘../expound/style.css’);

    Hope this works out for you.
