I’m experimenting a very strange (at least for me) problem:
On a fresh and succesfull install of the latest package on a Ubuntu Edgy box, when I browse the blog locally from the server itself all seems to work correctly. But when I connect from another box in the same lan (Windows XP SP2) I just receive plain html. I’ve tried it on Firefox 1.5.0.9 and in IE 6.0 and the error is reproduced in both.
I’m not a programmer, and just have some basic skills on html, so I don’t even see how to begin to try to solve the issue.

    Any idea??

    Thanks in advance.

  • Check the two URI values in your admin > Options > General.
If it says “localhost” – keep in mind that every machine in the world ‘thinks’ of itself as localhost, so it will look for the stylesheet on its own hard drive 😉

You need an URI or IP# to make sure other machines know where to look for your stuff.

    God, how simple it was.
    Solved.

Many thanks for such a quick and right answer.

Uhm…well, not resolved completely. It works from my own lan, but when connecting from internet to my server at home it, once again, shows plain html.
Perhaps in the URI you told me before I have to put my internet URL?
To make it work from inside the lan I just put the server’s internal IP. To make it work from outside it has to be a FQDN?

    Thanks in advance.

Well. Once again at home, I’ve tried to put the website URL on the Options > URI field (and adding the host and URL to the /etc/hosts file) and it works nicely.

    Finally solved.
