Any idea why the old css file still shows up??
Caching on your site or browser?
I have cleared the entire cache more than once and it didn’t help. Any other ideas?
Not without seeing your site.
Here is a link to a particular page on the site that contains photo captions: http://im.mennonite.net/2013/12/11/connecting-with-congregations/
P.S. Photos in posts recently started appearing off center (not sure why – perhaps as a result of my fiddling with the css)
Looks like your CSS is being minimized – have you cleared that caching?
I’m not familiar with the concept of CSS being minimized. Is this something my wordpress theme or plugins are causing?
How do I clear the cache for css?
Do you have a caching plugin? Doesn’t look like it from what I can see. Some hosts/servers have caching. What I was referring to is that all of your CSS shows up on 1 line – see here:
http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fim.mennonite.net%2F2013%2F12%2F11%2Fconnecting-with-congregations%2F&profile=css3&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en
BTW, some of those errors MAY be causing other CSS to not work…
Are there caching plugins you recommend?
Also would it be best for the css to not be all on one line?
Adding a caching plugin now will not solve this issue. I don’t know why your CSS is all on one line (likely your theme) – but it certainly makes it harder to work with.
Where is your theme from?
If this is a CSS issue (i.e. code isn’t working) that’s one thing – likely due to invalid CSS. If your changes are not actually being saved, that’s another (probably more serious) problem.
I can’t really tell which it is from your description…can you clarify that?
The site was designed and set up by someone else prior to my involvement. I simply manage the site now. The theme is based off a theme called Kronos by web2feel.com, but was significantly customized.
I fear that the second option — changes to CSS aren’t being saved — is most likely the case. But I’m not positive. I have tried changing the color value of text (a minor change) and then examining the live CSS only to find the old color value is still showing up. Which leads me to think option 2 is the problem.
Any idea what to try next?
