Support » Themes and Templates » CSS doesn’t load on my own theme

  • Resolved nomikai

I’m running WordPress on my university’s host (WP installation was amazingly easy ^^) and I am creating my own theme. My plan is to start minimally, meaning that I have only index.php and style.css files on it. I would expand it later on.
Currently I am satisfied with the outlook on my site, so I’d like start putting in php tags. I tested my theme after I put it in wp-content/themes/myowntheme folder. The outcome was that html code works fine, but for some reason my CSS is not loaded. Any clues why?

My html file on index.php has a line importing the CSS file.

  • The obvious cause is a very simple user error. It is just a cse of backtracking through each part meticulously. Is the import OK? Can you access the CSS direct in your browser? Is it in the right directory? etc.

    Thanks for your quick response!

Now that you guided me on right tracks I solved the problem, which was invalid directory ^^

    Ah. 🙂
