 * I recently updated to WP 3.9.1 and have had problems with TB ever since. Primarily
with displaying the widget but there may also be a conflict problem with another
plugin. I haven’t narrowed down the problem yet but before I jump to conclusions
I want to completely remove TB and then reinstall it. My question is if I remove
TB will I lose my testimonials?
    Thanks, Mark

 * Yes, Deleting the plugin removes the database table which is where you have your
   testimonials stored.
 * What is your site address so I can take a look?

 * Hi Kevin,
    The site address is: [http://www.sunkissvillas.com](http://www.sunkissvillas.com)
but at the moment I have TB disabled because it was causing problems. The widget(
set on rotate all) didn’t display as a rotation, only as a long list of testimonials.
I also had a site visitor tell me that my site was down last night for a bit
and I was concerned that it was related to this issue. That’s why I disabled
it. The strange thing is that yesterday I enabled TB again (after a few days)
and it seemed to work fine for an hour. Then it did what I described. I am happy
to work with you on this so let me know how I can help. Thanks, Mark

 * Can you turn it on so I can take a look at it?

 * I’ve turned it on but it hasn’t made it through the pipeline on my end yet. I
will check it in 30 minutes or so. Let me know what you see and if it breaks.

 * I’ve been looking at the site for an hour or so and haven’t noticed any problems
   with the widget slider.
 * When the slider stops working it is typically a problem with jQuery. Sometimes
when you update to a new version of WordPress the jQuery version used by WordPress
is also updated. Any plugin that uses jQuery can cause it to stop running and
you would see the testimonial widget slider stop working.
 * To troubleshoot (If the problem re-occurs):
 * 1)De-activate all plugins except Testimonial-basics. DO NOT DELETE THEM….just
   de-activate them.
2)Check to see if Testimonial Basics is now working properly.
3)If it is working properly, then reactivate the plugins one at a time, checking
the testimonial display each time until you find the problem plugin. 4)Once you
find the plugin that is causing the problem, you can look for a replacement.
5)Let me now if you found a plugin and which one it is so I may take a look at
   it.
 * That said I dug a little deeper and noticed a few things. It looks like you have
2 versions of jQuery and jQuery UI being loaded….not a good practice. Version
1.7.2 of jQuery is being loaded from the World Village plugin and 1.11.0 from
   WordPress.
 * Plugins or Themes should not load their own jQuery files or jQuery UI files,
but use the latest files supplied by WordPress.
 * I also ran a HTML check on a few pages, and have noticed quite a few errors (
25-50). A CSS check shows over 400 errors in the css files loaded. Though I doubt
these are the problems, they should be cleaned up.
 * I am also a bit puzzled about the Testimonial page. You have re-activated the
plugin yet the Testimonial Basics Shortcodes are not executing?

 * Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the analysis and feedback. I will look into the problems
you mentioned. When I woke up this morning the first thing I did was check the
site and it gave me a 502 error but when I refreshed it was EXCEPT that the TB
widget on the front page was again displaying a long list of testimonials. Also
the World-Village search box widget isn’t displaying properly. It is still that
way now. I will leave it that way for a little bit so you can look at it again
before I start disabling plugins. Thanks, Mark

 * BTW, the problem only seems to be on the front page. The testimonials page is
displaying all the testimonials now and all CSS looks correct.

 * I’m not an expert in these errors, I let google be the expert:)
 * “The 502 Bad Gateway error is usually a network error between servers on the
Internet, meaning the problem is not with your PC or Internet connection.”
 * It is possible that because you are hot linking to jQuery, this server connection
problem, prevents jQuery from loading on a page load and causes the problem with
testimonial basics. The fact that the slider works sometimes but not others points
at a problem not specific to Testimonial Basics.
 * Again, I would look at why different versions of jQuery are being loaded through
hotlinks instead of using the one with WordPress.
