CSS and post types (17 posts)

    I purchased this plugin because of the way it looked on your site. You really should start out the css similar what you show. I understand that my theme will impact it, but the way it comes is really, really plain. Could you please let me know what CSS styling you used to make the title below the image (unless that has something to do with a "featured image" vs. just adding an image directly in the post content), with the spacing and rounded corners?

    I also cannot tell it which posts to display. It gives me options like "posts" "pages" "events." I really want to post a specific category of my posts. (i.e. just "blogs") not all categories.

    I would appreciate some help.

    the website im working on is very much a work in progress at this point. but here is the link. http://infinigraphic.com/1sss/?page_id=6777

    Figured out the image above the text. Super easy. Didn't realize you could drag and drop the order of the display items.
    Still need help with the CSS and post types though... please!

    To only show a single post category select Posts as your post type then view this FAQ: http://codecanyon.net/item/ditty-posts-ticker/3967314/faqs/17062

    Basically you just need to enable the advance args then in the Parameter field of the Query Args put:

    cat

    Then in the Value field, put the category ID of your category, i.e.:

    9

    That’s all it takes. There are other query parameters you could use as well if you want to use the category slug as the value or use multiple categories… but, this is the most straightforward way of doing it.

    -----------------

    If you want rounded corners on your image as well as some spacing add the following css to the News Ticker > Settings page:

    .mtphr-dnt-posts-thumb img {
      margin-bottom: 5px;
      border-radius: 3px;
    }

    Adjust the number of pixels as needed.

    For the Twitter ticker did you follow the instructions on the Settings page and create a new App on Twitter? The instructions are laid out step by step to setup an app and then add the API Key & API Secret into the two fields on the setting page and save.

    Once that's saved you need to select the Authorize Twitter button and then click the Authorize App button that Twitter displays. After this is done you are all set to display Tweets through your ticker. Just select Twitter as the Ticker Type and add whatever Twitter handles or search words, etc... that you wish to display.

    I guess I'm still having trouble with the advanced args. I found what you are talking about. I put "cat" in the parameter, and then the post ID in the value, in this case "Blog."
    And it still displays all my posts??
    Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks for the help.

    You need to put the ID of the category associated with the post as the value, not a single post ID.

    If you only want to show a single post then use this as the parameter:

    p

    and then use your post ID as the value.

    Thanks again for the prompt response.
    I'm searching google to see where this category ID is. Can't seem to find it. I can obviously clearly see the category name, and I can find the specific post id, but not the category ID... I'll keep looking, or do they just order them 1, 2 etc. as you make category names?

    Eureka!
    You know I really should wait to comment back. Figured it out, thanks to you.
    You can find the cat ID by going to the post category and click "view."
    Appreciate the help.
    Great products, btw

    I did have one more question, when you have a min.
    I would like to have different size/color font for the title, than the content text in the css. Like you have in you're example.
    Thanks again.

    Sure, add:

    .mtphr-dnt-posts-title,
    .mtphr-dnt-posts-title a {
      font-size: 16px;
      color: #39B44A;
    }

    Adjust as needed. If nothing changes, then you probably have styles from your theme overriding it.

    Sorry, I have 1 more question when you got a minute.
    I didn't even notice there was a 1 or 2 pixel box around the posts slider, until I changed the bg color darker. I would like to see no border.
    Here's the site again: http://infinigraphic.com/1sss/

    Thanks again for the help!

    You'll need to add this css to override some theme styles:

    .entry-content table.mtphr-dnt-grid,
    .entry-content table.mtphr-dnt-grid tr td {
      border: none;
    }
