Support » Plugin: WP Dashboard Notes » Cross Browser Issues

  • Hi Jeroen,

List items don’t work correctly when adding/ticking across different browsers. Here’s one example that I have recreated several times:

    • Login into wordpress, two different users, one on Firefox, one on Chrome
    • Firefox, add note, add item – item and tick box appears
    • Chrome, refresh dashboard – note, item and tick box appears
    • Chrome, tick an item – tickbox ticked, line through text
    • Firefox, refresh dashboard – tick box disappears, no line through text

Using Safari instead of Chrome, also has the issue. I can create a video of this happening if you need me to.

P.S. I love the plugin 🙂 so simple and elegant!

    Cheers,
    Vicktor.

    Hi Vicktor,

Does this only happen when you do the cross browser thing? Do the strikethrough do appear in FF when you tick the box there?

I just did a quick test with this on a existing note and everything does seem to work correctly right now.
What version of the plugin are you using?
On what Operating System are you?

    Thanks 🙂

    Hi again,

I tested the scenario again with two different logins, both using Firefox. Same quirk.

    • login user 1, add note, add item, log out
    • login user 2, sees note, item, tick box. Add item, log out
    • login user 1, sees note, both items, no tick box on either item

    Plugin 1.0.8.2
    Mac OS X 10.8.5
    Firefox 47.0
    Chrome 43.0.2357.81

If the same scenario is okay on your end … I’m also using the Members plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/ All users have edit_dashboard rights, the only capability looks like it might be related.

    Hmmmm …

Just tried the same scenario with both users on Chrome, and then both users on Safari … same issue.

    Hi Vicktor,

After doing some more testing I’ve figured out what you mean / I can replicate this.
It seems that when you add a new item, and immediately check that box it doesn’t actually send a update/save request (you also don’t see the ‘saving’ icon in the right top)

(doesn’t seem to need to logout/login to other users to replicate this)

I’ve logged this to look at sometime soon (not exactly sure yet when I’m able to do so, hopefully this weekend or so.

I’ll keep you posted in here.

Thank you for reporting this / being so helpful in finding things out 🙂
