Support » Plugin: Web Stories » Cropping Tool for Stories Profile Photos Errors Out

With some of the recent updates within Web Stories, it seems the profile photo cropping tool errors out and I am 1) unable to add a new profile photo or 2) the existing one remains if the Web Story templates has been copied and pasted from a previous Story.

Is this a bug? The previous profile photo specifications have disappeared as the third area of Stories (with the helpful notes on what to change or edit) are now gone from the layout.

I have a video showing the error action, so let me know if you’d like me to attach or send over.

There’s a known issue with the cropping tool not appearing or displaying an error that we’re actively working on addressing. Is this similar to what you are experiencing?

We’ve found that a way to work around this issue by resizing the browser window. So when the crop dialog appears but the tool is not visible, try resizing your window to make it bigger, perhaps even hiding the dock (if you’re on a Mac) to make more space. Then it should re-appear and cropping should work.

Could you give that a try?

Sure, that would be great. You can share with Jumpshare or Imgur.

    Hi Luckyna,

This issue has not persisted. I created my newest Web Stories this week, and had no issues with the cropping tool this time around. All is running as it should now.

Thank you for your prompt reply!

@adaatude Hi there! 🙂 We’ve recently released a new version of the Web Stories for WordPress plugin which includes the fix for the cropping issue. Please update to version 1.10.0 to confirm it has been resolved for you as well. We’ll mark this topic as resolved but feel free to open a new support topic if you encounter further issues. Thank you!
