Support » Fixing WordPress » Cropping and sizing issues when uploading custom header

  • Hi:
This question will likely sound elementary to most of you, so I apologize in advance.

I am using the twenty thirteen theme. I have attempted numerous times to upload a custom header image (.png). When I do, I am forced to crop it which cuts off a significant portion of the image. I have attempted cropping the image on my desktop first (using Paint), but no matter how small I crop it on my desktop, I am forced to crop it when I upload it on my dashboard (Appearance:Header). I tried just cropping it for shits and giggles, just to see what would happen, and when I saved the uploaded image, it expanded so much that it doesn’t even fit on my website.

I never had this kind of problem with my twenty twelve theme.

I do not know how to create a child theme, so such a suggestion will be way over my head.

  • “Twenty thirteen” theme suggest header image in dimensions of 1600 × 230 pixels.
I would suggest try to upload an image with specified dimensions or higher dimensions maintaining with same aspect ratio.
