Support » Plugin: Regenerate Thumbnails » (Cropped) WooCommerce thumbnails not created

  • By default, thumbnail regeneration skips properly-formed thumbnails, but I had a situation where this was not the case, but the plugin thought it was.

Does the plugin check for actual files, or just rely on its own history?

The thumbnails in question were those created by WooCommerce, if this makes any difference.

Are the thumbnails attached to a post?

The ones that went missing were attached to products. That’s how I found out. I removed some files and thought I’d get them all back by regenerating, but they didn’t come back until I ran the WooCommerce job.

On another site, bulk regeneration is showing “Regenerate Thumbnails For All 1 Attachments”, but when I click that button, it proceeds to list all of 55 images.

This happens over and over again – 1 image counted, but 55 processed.

I’m not sure why WooCommerce attachments wouldn’t show.

I noticed that discrepancy between attachment count and list of images on one of my sites too. Unfortunately I can’t explain why it happens except that the plugin uses different methods to get the count and the list.

Was the discrepancy related to WooCommerce images sizes specifically?

Since WooCommerce and RT are both maintained by Automattic now, perhaps counting methods could be standardised to prevent the discrepancy?

I don’t use WooCommerce but I remember one of the Regenerate buttons showed 1 image while it regenerated multiple images. However on my blog I don’t see that now so I may have been mistaken.

Unfortunately I can’t promise that this bug will be fixed any time soon.

Dude, really? How difficult is it to get your hands on a site with the most popular WP shopping cart, which also happens to be owned by the company you work for?

@galbaras Did you manage to fix it? I´m having an issue with some of my thumnails. They are cut in half. Somehow some (just some) of my 300×300 pics were regenerated a week ago, not sure why and by what plugin. I have not yet installed RT. I also run WooCom.

    No, I haven’t.

From what I see, the plugin has a problem comparing actual image sizes from the file with the intended dimensions. Maybe it’s looking in meta data, not in the file, I’m not sure.

Either way, unless I force the plugin to regenerate everything, it skips things that should be processed.

This may or may not be related to WooCommerce, by the way. It may have just been the way I found out, but maybe it has to do with WC only setting the width in some cases, but not the height?
