Support » Plugin: Cloudinary - Image management and manipulation in the cloud + CDN » Crop sizes based on registered sizes/dimensions

Few monts ago someone asked the question:
“Is there any plan to support crop sizes based on what all registered sizes/dimensions? That would be the one killer missing piece.”

I would like to ask the same and elaborate:
When I set image from Cloudinary as a featured image, I need to use different dimentions depending on where the image is being shown.

Normally I use dimentions registerd in WordPress (full, thumbnail and medium size), for exaple: the_post_thumbnail_url(‘thumbnail’) return url to featured image cropped to small dimentions.

But when I use this function to show featured image hosted on cludinairy, plugin doesn’t resise it to those dimentions. It always return url to full size of the image.

Do you plan to create support for featured image registered sizes, or maybe is some hook/filter I can use to force resize based on registered sizes?

    Hi @gdzieania

Please note that its possible to achieve any dimension scale you want to achieve by using our transformations.

In addition its possible to create named transformations with the specifc dimesnions you want, and call these instead of the long trnasformations

    Does that make sense?

You sure can, but it requires you to write your own function to achieve that (I made my own).
It would be so much easier if the plugin could do it, without extra coding.
