Support » Plugin: Simple Share Buttons Adder » Critique and feature request

Hey, great plugin, keep up the good work. Just had a simple feature request. Would it be possible to perhaps load the facebook share dialogue into an iframe, instead of a new tab. If this is not how things are supposed to work, than I guess this is a bug report as well.

As far as critique, very well done and simple to use. I love the fact that I can add CSS straight to the plugin via the settings panel. You have a lot of great looking options for buttons as well, and as always, having the ability to customize your own buttons is great. I am left kind of wishing there was an extra small, or something smaller than the current “small” setting, as the “small” setting is, while certainly not huge or obtrusive by any means, a little big for my current application.

Being able to ass css to the share text would be nice too, as right now the images are aligned to the bottom of the text, which makes it look weird with the share text there. I should be able too with the styles, but its unclear what I should add styles too (is there a specific class for the share text? is it in a p tag, allowing me to use a #ssba p { … } declaration)

Your selection of sharing platforms is quite good, but seems to be missing a few of the minor platforms, and also blogging platforms, like blogger. Not sure if its impossible to put these in or something.

It would be nice to be able to orient the buttons in a vertical fashion, as well as allowing options for putting the buttons on the left/right side of a post, but these things are technically possible with some clever css I would assume.

You are also missing right alignment under the alignments drop down. I don’t know if this was intentional, but it would be nice to be able to right align the buttons, and I don’t imagine adding that would be very difficult.

The images themselves could use a bit of spacing between them (on the sides) and adding the ability to adjust this spacing would be great.

A FAQ would also be great!

    Hi Mike,

Many thanks for your rating and comments.

I am looking into the possibilities of modal windows etc for the links, expect to see something like that in version 2.0, when there will be quite a few improvements.

Note that you can resize the images if you wish using #ssba img { width: 25px; } for example. I am considering making this a digit input, then people can make them exactly the size they need without needing to know any CSS.

It is possible to add CSS to the share text by simply adding it to #ssba, this is how the colours and font weight etc are applied, if there’s anything specific you’d like to know please just ask and I’d be happy to help.

I shall also be looking to add a few new social sharing sites to the next update.

Note that the spacing between images is possible, it is the ‘Padding’ option within the menu. If you’d like more personal ‘margins’ or anything just let me know.

Images can be aligned vertically if you wish, this has been removed as default. The CSS you would need to add is:

    #ssba img { display: block; }

Please be aware that adding any custom CSS intentionally wipes out all previous amendments made, if you are unsure just message me and I’ll help out.

Hey, thanks for the quick and thorough reply! Thanks for all the tips, they really help!

I’m looking forward to version 2.0! I see you just released a new version today sometime. I’m glad this is in current development as well. Keep up the good work!
