After updating WooCommerce to version 10.5.0, a critical issue occurs.
When selecting variation options, the product should be able to be added to the cart, but after the update, it is no longer possible to add the product to the cart.

</font></font>

Please help confirm and investigate this issue.

  • Hi @coolman0302,

Thanks for sharing the details here. I understand how disruptive it is when variable products can no longer be added to the cart after updating to WooCommerce 10.5.0, especially since reverting to 10.4.3 immediately resolves the behavior. That comparison is very helpful.

I have tested this on my own test site running WooCommerce 10.5.0 and was not able to reproduce the issue. Variable products were added to the cart as expected, which suggests this may be specific to an interaction on your site rather than a general issue in core.

To narrow this down, the next step is to rule out a plugin or theme conflict triggered by the update. Please try temporarily deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce, then test adding a variable product to the cart. If possible, also switch briefly to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty Four and test again. This helps confirm whether the behavior is coming from custom code or an extension. A guide for plugin conflict test: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

It would also be useful to check for any JavaScript or WooCommerce related errors when selecting variations and clicking add to cart. You can find guidance on locating WooCommerce logs here, https://woocommerce.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/

Please also share your WooCommerce System Status Report. You can copy it from WooCommerce, Status, Get system report, then paste it into https://pastebin.com and share the link here so we can review the environment details.

With those results, we can continue troubleshooting this with you.

I’ve identified the cause of the issue. It was caused by the “Variation Swatches for WooCommerce – Pro” plugin. Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi @coolman0302,

Glad to hear you were able to identify the root cause and confirm it was coming from the Variation Swatches for WooCommerce Pro plugin. That clarity really helps move things forward.

Since the behavior is being triggered by a third party extension, the best next step is to reach out directly to the plugin developer so they can review compatibility with WooCommerce 10.5.0 and provide an update or workaround if needed.

I will go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If anything else comes up on the WooCommerce side, feel free to open a new thread and we will be happy to help.

If you have a moment, a 5 star review for WooCommerce would be greatly appreciated and helps support ongoing development and support efforts, you can leave it here,

Thanks again for following up with the findings and for working through this.

Thank you for your assistance. I’ve already informed the Variation Swatches for WooCommerce – Pro team about this issue.

Hi @coolman0302, I’m happy to hear that, and I hope the plugin team addresses the conflict soon. Please do keep us updated, and if anything else comes up, we’ll be glad to assist.

Also, since you haven’t left a review for WooCommerce yet, if you’re satisfied with the support you’ve received, it would mean a lot if you could leave a 5-star review here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/reviews/#new-post

@coolman0302, thanks a lot for raising this issue and, especially, narrowing it down to specific plugin! Most likely the issue is related to the change we announced in Dev Advisory: Add to Cart button disabled by default in variable products in WooCommerce 10.5.

I see you opened a thread for the Variation Swatches for WooCommerce, I’m going to post the Dev Advisory there as well, so it will reach the plugin developers faster.
