    Hello,

Very new user to WordPress. My organization uses GiveWP for our donations page. I believe we are all updated, as of 1/23/23. User facing Donations page still works and people can donate. Within WordPress, we cannot access the Donations “All Forms” page. We get this Error: There has been a critical error on your website. The Donations History page also is not visible in WordPress.

Also, we get a message alert that says we need to update/install the Donations plugin, and then when we click on it, it says that Plugin cannot be found. Not sure if these are related problems.

Thank you in advance with any fixes.

  • Hi @joannahflsd,
Glad you reached out. Let’s start by getting your GiveWP – Donation core plugin uninstalled and reinstalled. It looks like it may have become corrupted for some reason.

When you delete GiveWP, all your data (forms, donor records, donation records etc) are preserved unless you specifically choose to eliminate that data when you are uninstalling. If you did not choose to delete all data, the data remains intact.

First, you’ll need to delete the give folder on your server via FTP, SFTP, or using your hosting file manager. We have an excellent step-by-step article on how to navigate FTP to locate that plugin and get it deleted:

    https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/deactivate-wordpress-plugins-white-screen/

    Download FileZilla:

    https://filezilla-project.org/

Next, navigate to the upper left hand corner to “Site Manager” or “Host” and connect your site (this will ask for log in credentials). Once your site is connected, you’ll be able to navigate from your root folder to the wp-content directory. This is where your plugins folder lives (wp-content/plugins/). You’ll be able to deactivate or delete it from here, which will clear out all any old information from the broken plugin.

After you delete it, you can download the GiveWP plugin from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/give/

Next, navigate to your dashboard, click on Plugins > Add New and click to upload a new plugin. Now, upload the GiveWP plugin you downloaded, install it, and make sure to activate it.

Make sure to walk through that article above, it includes screenshots of each step to keep the process manageable!

Let me know if you still have trouble with the All Forms page once you have the plugin reinstalled. If you have questions in the meantime, I’m happy to help.

    Hi @joannahflsd,
It’s been a bit since I’ve heard back, and I know sometimes troubleshooting needs a little extra time. I’m marking this as resolved for now, but if you have any questions you can create a new ticket right here and I’ll be happy to hop in. Have a great day!
