• I added this to my site; when I tried to add Google Analytics, they scanned my site and then my URL was marked with phishing — this plugin was one of the culprits. I don’t believe this plugin itself has phishing content, but the way it’s coded into the website gives a red flag to Criminal IP because it’s a ‘hidden element.’ I’m getting this report with some other plugins too, but I just wanted to make everyone aware in case this ever happens to them.

The plugin clearly has nothing to do with phishing, as anyone can verify by examining the code. This free, open-source plugin has been helping people block bad bots for almost 10 years. It works by including a hidden link on web pages that traps bad bots. The technique is proven, very safe, lightweight, and effective. And it’s all well-documented here at WordPress.org.

I do appreciate your feedback, but feel like the low rating is unfair. Unless you have something against using hidden links to trap bad bots..?

Nope, nothing against bad bots! In the moment I was a bit frustrated, but I changed the star review. Overall, I think it’s a good plugin and a great idea.

Wow thank you very much, it really helps and is super appreciated.

May I ask why not a five-star review..? Is there some way the plugin can be improved? Please let me know, your feedback is very important. I want to improve the plugin however possible, thank you.
